UPDATE:

As of the end of January 2024 you should have gotten an email from Kajabi explaining what, if anything, you need to do to stay compliant (if you're a Kajabi user).

That email said that the SPF and DKIM are all set, and DMARC will be in place by February 4th, 2024.

If you want to check, after February 4th, to make sure you're all set here's what you'll do:

  1. Send a broadcast email to just yourself.
  2. Once you receive it, open the email and click the 3 dots in the upper right, then select "Show original".
  3. It will open up some information about SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.  You want all three to be "PASS".

The Quick & Dirty Summary:

In February Yahoo and Gmail are making some changes to email rules that will likely affect you. If you use Kajabi for your email service provider and you haven't yet made some updates, you're gonna want to read this email.

The Details:

There has been quite a bit of chatter in the Kajabi Facebook group about the upcoming changes to email, and a lot of scary acronyms thrown around, like SPF (not just for sunscreen, apparently), DKIM, and DMARC.

In a nutshell, Yahoo and Gmail are implementing some changes to tighten up their spam filters, so if you have people on your list with a Yahoo or Gmail address, your emails are less likely to actually end up in inboxes.

Overall, this is a good thing because:

👉 Email marketing is a part of all of our businesses, and we are not spammers.

👉 Our goal is an email list of active, engaged subscribers who want to learn with us.

👉 Anyone who remembers what email was like in the 90s will tell you that we don't want to go back to the days of our inboxes being full of Viagra ads.

However, there are some actions you'll need to take to make sure you're in compliance with the new regulations.

Last week I was determined to learn everything about email marketing so I'd be able to explain this really well.

And then I realized that this whole thing is hella confusing, and the more I learned, the more I knew what I didn't know 🤷‍♀️

So instead of me saying things that are probably not accurate, I'm going to share links to a couple resources that I'm using, from people who actually know what they're talking about:

The ever-so-helpful Dexx Williams posted a thorough video walking us through exactly what we need to do.

Here's the deal: if you want to get weekly-ish emails about Kajabi, funnels, list-building, and traffic, pop your name on the form below.

I might also share some behind-the-scenes tidbits about my kids, and what it's like to be a somewhat-snarky, introverted entrepreneur living in a tiny mountain town in Colorado.
